My m8 has asked me if buying a X1950XTX to go with his X1900XTX in CF will work. I said no due to the obvious, but just wanted to double check first

Yeah will work fine, but its an absolute waste as he can get a normal x1900 CF card for far less that will give the same performance, no point at all spending over £328 on a card thats going to give the same performance as the £250 x1900 master.
Just clock the x1900 master to XT-X speeds and its only about 2 frames at best slower than the x1950, so if both XT's are at XT-X speeds, then thats 2x cards at £223 each, that are at best 2 frames slower than 2x x1950's which cost a whopping £328 each!!!!, so why ppl are paying £656 for 2x x1950's is beyond me when for 2 frames less you can have 2x x1900's for only £446 pmsl, paying an extra £210 for and extra 2 frames, madness.
