Crossfire?

I've never looked into crossfire before but wondering with my motherboard whether there is any point as it says:

"The PCIEX16 slot operates at up to x4 mode when ATI CrossFireX is enabled."

Does this make a difference?

Shouldn't make that much difference at all.
