hi there , just wandering if theres any real difference in having 2 cards in crossfire utilising 2 x pci e 16 slots, rather than 1 in the 16 slot and the other in the 8........

reason im asking is i have a gigabyte z68ud7 and this board has 2 x 16 pcie slots......i have crossfired 2 6950s 1 in the x16 slot and the other in the x8 slot as i didnt notice it actualy has 2 x 16 pcie slots....

the main reason i did this was for sufficient cooling for each card.......

so would i be better off having both cards in the x16 slots but would be right next to each other....

or leaving as is with sufficient space for cooling......

cheers chris

Well you will have a 4 percent lose of each card currently so you're running at 96 percent from each card which isn't a significant lost. What are the temps of the cards while being apart ? if it's quite reasonable I wouldn't see any problem for putting both the cards in X16 slot.
