Not sure if this should be in here of the games section, feel free to move if need be :)

Anyway, my new pc will have 2x ATI 6870 cards. Do you have to get a game patch to make specific games work or do they just speed things up naturally for everything?

And as for Eyefinity, ive got 2 monitors already, would this be worth getting a cheap 3rd one? Do many games support it and how much of a performance hit would that be?

PC Spec is:
Intel® Core™i7-2600 Quad Core (3.40GHz, 8MB Cache)
2x 1GB AMD RADEON™ HD6870 - 2 DVI,HDMI,2 mDP - DX® 11, Eyefinity 4 Capable ( not sure of the actual make )
8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz

You just need to configure the monitors in the ATI control panel and set up bezel correction, it doesn't require a patch (would be nice if someone could confirm this). If you have the money I would say 3 monitors as playing an FPS with the iron-sight in the center is a right pain. As for the performance you would be fine with more recent games, not on Max but still high I would think.
Have a look here. http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/amd-eyefinity-technology/how-to/Pages/how-to.aspx

Most games will not need a patch to use Crossfire. It's just install and play.

As for Eyefinity, are your current two monitors the same resolution? You could try setting these in Eyefinity first and see how it feels. Personally I found the bezels in the middle too annoying so bought a third ;).
