Crossfirex issues with 3 Projector set up

Hi all,

I'm trying to run my 3 projectors off 2 hd 6970's but I'm having a few issues. I've connected one up through an active mini Display port to DVI cable, and the others to HDMI. When I enable cross fire X in my CCC (version 11.2), I can only pick up the one projector connected to the upper graphics card. When I untick cross fire x, then I can see all 3 projectors. Am I doing something wrong?

Also for some reason the other two projectors which are only connected through THE DVI ports display a very poor picture with lots of green lines across it.

Any help is much appreciated!

Are all the projectors connected to the top graphics card?

You have to do this with Crossfire. You can't use the connections on the bottom card.

As above all need to be connected to the top card if using x-fire as you already have displayport converter you will probably need to use a DVI-to-hdmi converter (or cable) for the other cable (depending on what outputs the top card has).

Are you trying to setup an eyefinity system with the projectors or just display 3 different screens?

I'm trying to set up eyefinity too. I managed to merge the screens, but the only clear picture is the projector running off the mini active display port, the other two experience green lines running across the screen. Dont know why that is!

like others have said all 3 connections have to come from only one card the top one

Investigating further, it seems to flicker with a green grid over the orginal picture when connected via hdmi to DVI cables. I m using the HC4000

if its any help im useing dvi to hdmi connector on 1 monitor and hdmi on the 2nd and active displayport adaptor for the third

Could it be the refresh rate being pushed to each projector?

How long are the HDMI cables? When I used my long HDMI cable to connect to my PJ without a signal booster I used to get lots or atifacting on the screen.

I think cables are 7 metres, I got them from amazon I think...

Pardon my ignorance. The cables are hdmi golf plated 7m. I dont know if it helps but the menu of th projector appears normal and clear/ Could that mean that it may be an issue with the Hz?

eyefinity with 3 projectors?! that...is.... GENIUS!!!! as for the green lines... have you tried just plugging one in at a time? tried swapping the projectors form the dvi to display port and it's still just the dvi projectors that show up the green lines?

also the two through the dvi ports... they using dvi>hdmi adaptors/cables? if so is it possible to just test them with a dvi-dvi standard cable? could be some interface problem?

Or more likely to be a setting in the graphics card? I ve played aroudn with frequency and res but to no avail

mmmm possibly... need to go through every possibility systematically

as i said possible to use some straight dvi cables? also do the projectors do the same if say you only have one plugged into a dvi slot (just one connected) ?

Hmmm it seems now. One of them works perfectly with the display port, one of them is the same with or without the display port ( still showing green stripes etc) yet when I adjust the refresh rate down to say 30hz, it heavily reduced. which would imply??? The last projector now doesnt seem to take any signal what so ever when connected via the display port, Very strange!

Yeah now I'm trying them one by one/ Unforunately i don't think the PJ s have dvi ports, and I dont have straight hdmi to hdmi. They do have computer ports which I have connected each one to and it works fine on that port, but I don't have a long enough cable for that.

hummmm given what you say about the reduction in refresh rate reduced the problem... guessing it was running at 60hz before? i would suggest trying 24hz, as i think the film standard is 1920x1080p 24hz .... it might be pumping out too much for the projector possibly? is the projector is in film mode or something?

also try possibly reducing the res down to 720p and also maybe 24hz if you can and see it it's still persists...

HDMI cables are not meant to be very long, so I suggest getting a signal repeater...very cheap and will stop signal degradation which I think by the sounds of it is your issue. As the HDMI using the active port is fine but the passive are artifacting.

i have an ocuk 10/15m (cant quite remember) hdmi lead going from a dvi adapter on my gfx card to my amp and i've never had any problems with it so not sure if getting that signal repeater might just be buying a paper weight. not saying you're wrong, just it might not be the cause.
