I am thinking of adding a second card to my setup, but I had a couple of questions about crossfire first:
1) Would there be any compatibility issues if I use cards from different manufacturers?
2) Can you enable/disable the second card without a restart?

The reason I ask is that I have just ordered an Asus Xonar DG, and so I only have enough room for a single slot card - Sapphire don't do one AFAIK, so it looks like XFX may get my money. I don't expect the XFX single slot to be as quiet as my current card however, which is a nice-to-have when watching videos or other non-intensive usage.

Anyway, any input would be appreciated.

Yes, you can.

Enabling Crossfire is a CCC setting so can be turned on / off as needed.

Or if you use RadeonPro for game profiles, you can set up Crossfire on a per game / profile basis.
