Hey guys, my rig is about 2 years old, and I was thinking of adding another 6950 that i can get for around 70-100 quid so im just curious how would crossfire 6950s stand against todays latest graphics cards and games? would it last me a bit more? is it worth it?

cheers

Crossfire 6950s will be about similar performance to a 7970 or overclocked 7950.

If you could get, say, £100 for your 6950, I think the general consensus would be to sell it, then put the £100 you were gonna use to buy a second towards like a 7950.

thanks for the reply. I understand that a single card is better then xfire because of some issues with crossfire however I dont know if I could be bothered the hassle of selling the 6950! What about if they are both unlocked to 6970?

Main question is whether they will be able to run games like Crysis 3 at 1080p max settings or close too!

Thanks again

Well they will be good in terms of performance, I'm not against crossfire of course, I've got 2x 7950s myself.

2x 6950s would be able to run Crysis 3 maxed, unlocked to 6970s, even better, with a little overclock, well even better again!

Yep agree with the above, as a previous 6950 CF and current 7970 CF owner, you're likely to experience around 7970 levels of performance.
