Crossfiring HD4890 with a HD5850/?

No, you can't CF different series cards afaik. I'm sure someone with more knowledge can confim/deny this though.

u can only crossfire from the same series, e.g 5850 + 5870.

Well that sucks, i have to sell my HD4890 if i wanna upgrade to 5 series

Or you could wait for the Hydra setup

If it achieves half of the claims if could change the way we think about gfx cards - be interesting to see if it ends up as a motherboard only or standalone card option.
