Hello all,

I know this might be a stupid question but I need to ask it anyways.

If I crossfire with my current 6950, is it possible to crossfire it with the 6970? I realize that another 6950 can overclock to the 6970 but i'd rather not go overclocking when I'm not too experienced in that field :P.

Its not overclocking, it's a simple flash :p Effectively the same as flashing your BIOS.

I don't think you can CF a HD6970 with a HD6950 - but I could be wrong as they are very similar cards.

You can crossfire any cards with the same first 2 numbers: 6950 + 6970, 5830 + 5850 + 5870, 5750+5770, etc.
However, each card will operate at the speed of the slowest one in the set.

Half true.

6900's will crossfire.

But both will run at full speed with ATi. It is Nvidia SLI where both cards will be clocked the same.

That being said, save the money and get the 6950. It will be a long time before 2x6950's wouldn't be enough.
