What network cables will i need for the following?

1) Modem to router
2) Router to switch - gigabit
3) Switch to Pc -gigabit
4) Switch to Synology Nas - Gigabit
5) Switch to IP Camera
6) Switch to Xbox 360

Also cat 5e or 6?

Thanks

Pretty sure you will need a patch cable for all the above, also, most networky equiptment manufactured in the last 5 or so years are auto sensing so you can get away with just patch - someone will be along in a min to correct me if im wrong :)

Thanks - i already have it set up using cat 5e cables but they are a mixture of patch and crossover also different colours so i want to tidy it up with the same sort / colour cables.

So its cat6 patch all the way?

I wouldn't have thought so. If your switch and NIC's only support Gigabit then that's all they will be able to throughput. As for what cable types, patch should be fine for all of them.

i use cat5e for my gigabit through the house and have no issues, the price increase for a drum of cat6 over cat5e was huge

I have 3 comps attached to a HP gigabit switch with CAT5E, and all 3 communicate @1Gbps (Networking tab, Task Manager) through it, CAT6 is not really necessary I reckon....
