Crows in the spotlight

On the way back from work yesterday morning I spotted a bunch of crows hanging around on the local mobile phone mast, so I quickly dug out my K100D/70-300 and went back.

I tried hard to get a nice takeoff shot, with wings spreading, but in the end my hands went numb with cold and the crows buggered off between shots. Still, these were better than nothing. Maybe next time I can persuade them to hang around somewhere with a bit less metalwork in the way.

Thanks for the comments. I think the second one's still my favourite even though it really shouldn't be. The metalwork both adds and subtracts something to the shot.

Obviously though without most of that metalwork it would be even better, because that's a cracking pose by the crow. I suspect it was staring back at me as hard as I was staring at it.

Right, off to find some cows to photograph... and to learn how to spell spotlight.
