Crucial Ballistix 2gb pc4000

Absolutely rubbish success rate with them sticks..
I have another set going back to Crucial on Monday with a good boot up the arse
Had nothing but trouble over the last year with them and can probably nail down every problem I've had with that particular box to one of the sticks......the other one can only run at stock speed.
I'm sure there's some lads out there who have had no trouble with them, but for a premium product, the failure rate is unacceptable.
Absolutely zero chance of ever buying Crucial again..........if fact, the best thing they ever sold me was an old 9700Pro years ago :) :)
Most annoying trying to run the Battlefield 2142 Beta with only 1gb of memory at the moment I can tell you..

I came to the same conclusion that heat, kill this memory.

For my second set I installed a fan above them, been running fine for the last 9 months with no problem.

Simon: what speed u running the ram at ? what timings ? Ideally I want to run the ram at ddr600 3-3-3-8 if possible, just wondering if 2.6/7 vdimm will be enough for that.

Hi

I running at 1:1 with my CPU 4400 with 1.48v @242 X11 3,3,3,8, 1T at 2.67v.

To run at ddr 600 with this memory I think you will need to relax the timings, or use a memory divider.

I would use a divider, if I was going higher than 250

When I played around with the voltage I found more stability problems

Are the Ballistix 2 gig ddr kits still being made ? if not what are Crucial replacing them with for all these peeps who have had the ram die on them ?

k, got my Ballistix kit today, first thing I did was install 2x 80mm fans, they are about 3 inches above the ram and blowing down. Done a few tests, superpi32, memtest, 3dmarks etc.. and some gaming, all stable so far. Hopefully the combination of low vdimm and active ram cooling will make these sticks last a good while, well hoping so anyways :)

What motheboard you using ? They work fine in my ultra-d and I have a cheapy asrock dual sata2 board which I`ve tried, work fine in that also. Dual channel working fine in Nforce4/ULI based boards here, weird problem you got. Maybe you got bad ram sticks ? but if they work fine in single channel mode, they cant be bad, some compatibility conflict somewhere.
