Crucial Ballistix RGB Issue

I recently got some Crucial Ballistix RGB ram (DDR4-3200mhz) 4x modules of 8GB each (32GB total). I booted up the machine (Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming) and changed the XMP profile so the RAM would run at 3200mhz. However the ram in slot 3 (A1 I believe) will just constantly flash through colours rapidly while the other sticks slowly change colour. No matter what I do in the Armoury Crate software or Aura I cannot get the 3rd ram stick to respond to changes.

I got a firmware update from the Crucial discord however trying to apply this by following the instructions that came with it just results in an error saying there was no dimms to update. I have updated Windows, I have applied the latest BIOS for the motherboard and made sure all other drivers are updated.

Has anyone else come across this issue and successfully managed to fix it? Googling it seems quite a common problem.

I can't help, but I'm having a similar problem with mine too. I originally had 2 x Black 8GB sticks which I would control with the MSI Dragon center software. No problems.

I then managed to get 2 x White 8GB sticks so hid the black ones under my CPU cooler so the new white ones were visible. The problem was that I could not control the colours, so they would just run the rainbow cycle.

The official MOD software just would not run.

The only way around it was to also install Armory Crate to control the other 2 sticks colour. Very strange.

Are you not supposed to use Crucial's own M.O.D utility to muck about with your pretty RAM lights?
That might be the issue...

I'm on X99, which isn't officially supported by Crucial so I couldn't use M.O.D, but Asus Aura did work for my Ballistix Tactical Tracer.

Are you guys running any other RGB control software (e.g. iCue?)?

I'm not using any other software.

The MOD utility is very basic and a bit rubbish tbh. It doesn't give me the customization that I like with Armory Crate. I've been speaking to Crucial and they say it should work, they have people looking into it apparently. I think I might just have to wait on an answer from them as it seems very hit or miss if the software works for people or not.

MOD is fairly basic, but I've always found it works better than, and offers better pattern options than, most other similar programs.
Aura is pretty ***** by comparison and quite the PITA to use if you don't want every LED doing the exact same thing.

I've not tried Armoury Crate yet (heard lots of swearing in regard to how janky it is) but if it's like iCue in terms of customisation, then that should be pretty decent - It's then just a case of whether it will work with your RAM, and "should work" is different to actually being supported enough to say 'will work'. No guarantees, especially since Crucial swore blind that Aura definitely would not work on their BTT RAM...

Fingers crossed for you, though.
