Hi guys,

I have just upgraded my machine and am using Crucials' 2Gb 5-5-5-12 Memory. I just did a memory bandwidth check on Sandra Sisoft and It says

Warning W5400 - Low memory bandwidth efficiency (advanced test). Generally this means a setting is incorrect or set too “safe” resulting in too low performance.

Fix: Check memory timings (reduce them) or check other chipset or memory speed settings.

I have looked in Bios and it says AUTO (by SPD) on my MSI p35 NEO board.

Any help would be cool.

Cheers

What does the Memory tab of CPU-Z say?

If it doesn't say 400mhz and 5-5-5-12 then you'll need to manually set it to those settings in the BIOS. And the correct voltage.

Providing it's PC6400 ofcourse. I haven't come across any Crucial CAS5 PC6400 lately.

Ahh it says 5-5-5- tCAS is 18 though... do i need to change this?

Also in the SPD timings table, how come there are 2 different speeds next to each other?

Cheers

I've no idea why Sandra would be moaning. Tho it's been ages since I last used it. Everest will give you bandwidth readings too.

Yeah 400Mhz. So i guess all is fine, though i will check to see if I can change the 18 to 12 see if that makes a difference?

By the way, my memory is:

Corsair 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 Memory Non-ECC Unbuffered CL5(5-5-5-12) Heat Spreader Lifetime Warranty
