OK seem to be having a very annoying problem.

I recently prchased a further 'Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA663)' to add to the 2Gb i already have but i am having a very annoying problem.

The 4 sticks of memory wont work properly together. The PC just loads really slowly and takes about 15mins just to load vista and the CPU keeps throttling at around 90% on both cores (C2D E6600) on the desktop with nothing running.

However if i use just 1 set the PC works perfectly and the CPU returns to normal and does not throttle on the desktop. Also if i use the new set by itself the PC works perfectly but it doesnt work when using all four sticks together. Am i missing something here?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

ok i have also tried giving the NB a nudge from 1.25 to 1.3 bt that didnt really do mch but it does feel a little faster and slightly more responsive and the CPU is not throttlinhg as much. Should i up the voltage a little more? To 1.325 maybe?
Ive never updated a bios in my life but i will certsinly look into it.

Also windows memory diagnostic tool found no errors even when running with just one tick at a time.

The forum thread over at the MSI forums recommends updating the BIOS to stop the 4gb slowdown issue. It's an issue with the board and not the memory.

Thanks for the link above Cob. It seems to be a problem with nvidia chipset boards, MSI and the bios. Guess i will just have to wait and hope for a fix until then i guess i will have to shelve the ram and hope that any fxes appear soon. Thanks for the help.

If anyone in the meantime has any other sggestions please post them and i will try them.

Thanks:D
