For those with ballistix that had issues, did it die completely? and did you get mem errors on memtests? I have some and I have had a bunch of BSOD lately which usually indicates memory ?

did you get any errors when memtesting though? As thats whats throwing me out, I didnt get any after 9hrs of testing. But I get so many BSOD its unreal. Last few days its been better but last week we talking like 5 reboots to get past them onto windows and then it would just randomly bluescreen again.

I always thought Crucial were a pretty bulletproof brand so the amount and frequency of RMAs talked about in here seems pretty damn excessive. Has anyone had the ram fail after only ever running it at stock speeds?

Normal Crucial memory is usually bulletproof. It's their Ballistix range thats caused problems (both DDR and DDR2).

Hmm well that's good to know. I was sorely tempted by their Ballistix pc2-5300 since it was always meant to overclock awesomely, but I'm glad I never got round to buying it since I'd be mightily peed off if I ended up in a never-ending cycle of RMAs.

I've just got my 8500 Ballistix back from RMA but I tempted just to put them up on the MM and buy myself either 2x2GB or 4x2GB sticks of Corsair 2GB DDR XMS2 6400.
