Cruising and internet access

I do that as well.. And normally take a load of TV shows on the laptop as backup. That said, i have found that the onboard tv entertainment wasnt too bad.. Some good films and tv shows (Well some of the tv shows only had a few episodes and they were out of sequence) Bigger P&O has a few cinemas as well. I tend also to grab youtube videos when i get into port for something to watch at random times when i just want to doomscroll. That said i am off next year for 2 weeks with only 5or6 ports so a fair bit of at sea time but not too fussed.

Unfortunately with the nature of my business I need to be connected all the time.

We cruise exclusively with RC and we choose to have one device connected. Usually my phone, which I can then hotspot to my children's phone and my laptop when I have to work. Works well...

We have a 7 day cruise planned next year on the Star of the Sea and I have already booked their Voom package on around $30 per day.

RC are incorporating Starlink with most of their newer ships, and with the Odyssey of the Sea we went on last year for 12 days.....I had a solid 50mbps for all of the trip.

Haven't read through the thread, but used Gigsky on my lasty cruise. It's uses 4G/5G on land like any other esim, but also uses 3G at sea. It's not as fast or reliable as the ship wifi, but if it only for whatsapp, messaging maps etc it'll be OK. If you want to stream video, pay the wifi cost.
