I popped out this morning to do the usual dropping of the missus off at work and popping to the local supermarket.

Whilst browsing the bread area, I came accross some Crumpets. Its been years since I had some so bought a packet and whilst driving home, thought of what topping to put on them.

I dug out some Ploughmans Pickle, Mature Cheese and Red/Green Peppers.

Half way through grilling the Crumpets I put the topping on, cooked it until the chesse had melted and slapped them on a plate.

They were absolutely lush!!!!

So I made another 2 of them. :o

How do you eat yours?

just butter

or maybe syrum (golden)

I don't think I've had one with a savoury topping.

Mainly just liberal amounts of butter.

Occasionally I will put some thickly-sliced cheddar cheese on top, but I won't melt the cheese on - the coldness of the cheese straight from the fridge, mixed with the warmth of the crumpet and melted butter is a suprisingly nice combination.
