Cryostasis - what a dog

I can't believe how poorly this game runs, we are starting to see a trend for new games to run like a robbers dog.

My rig is no slouch with a q9650 @ 3.6ghz and a 4870 512MB @ 780/1000, I'm wondering if this is a vista thing?

I dropped all settings to low/off minimum and at 1920x1200 it was still only running at around 35fps in a scene in the first level where you view steam coming out of a pipe. Setting everything up to high/ansio/AA except shadows at medium dropped me to 27fps on this scene, not much of a change.

During the game 1st and 2nd levels I'm getting frame rates of between 10-60.

What's other peoples gameplay experience with this game in vista & xp?

runs ok on mine, 8800GT OC , well good enough @ 1680x1050

Lower res with everything else maxed as high as poss? Try that.

Think it will probably run better on Nvidia cards.

The game absolutely hates high resolutions, regardless of settings (thats what i found on my 4870). 1920x1200 ran likes balls, 1680x1050 was better, anything below gave solid 60 FPS. Game seems sucky anyway so wasnt worth the hassle.

na its not just you, i tried it on XP with a q6600 and a GTX260 @1920x1080 and i was between 10-60fps and even at 40+ fps it felt like it was only doing 10fps

glad i tried before i buyed

well got on 1680x1050 with q6600 did have q9650 yet. on dx 9 all maxed out was 25~50 fps. if u want to play dx 10 u need nvidia card as then it enables phisix

Yes hardware physics is off. I guess it's an Nvidia only title

I gave it a whirl on windows 7 with an OC'd Q6600 260GTX MAXCORE and an 8800GT to do physics and it was running a playable 40-60fps at 2048x res with mostly maxed out settings 4x AA, 16x AF. I didn't see or feel any place where it dropped below ~40fps.

Runs fine on my 4870X2 at 1920x1200 with everything on max, however the game is average at best.

Still waiting for PhysX's killer app

Not all that of a game but runs fine for me @ 1920 x 1200. Not checked the actual FPS but it plays smooth, no jerking/stutters etc.

Dropping to 20FPS in some scenes on my rig. On the whole, it was 45-60FPS, physx enabled. 1680x1050

To be honest I would, and such cards historically have always maxed out current games. I guess these days it's the norm that some top titles can only be maxxed out with multi sli setups (crysis, GTA and cryostasis)

I think he was refering to lack or memory for that res, not going crossfire/SLI.

I haven't had a single game hitch due to lack of video ram at 1920 with my 4870 512MB, including Crysis, the Cinematic Mod for HL2, and FC2.

I understand that the 1GB version gives higher fps at such high resolutions, but the 512MB version doesn't exactly struggle.

Seems the game doesn't make use of multi-cores according to the forums
