Hey all, I tried to post in the Crypto Miner section but I have insufficient privileges.

I would like to build a mining rig, and not too sure where to start. I would like to keep it under £1k and obviously like to get the best bang for buck. Is anyone able to assist me?

I have computer knowledge and am able to build the rig but have been out of touch for some time so any help is recommended. I aim to start with 1 GPU and add one more each pay day, until I need to build another rig and then start again.

Super excited to start this project just need some advice on best hardware.

Many thanks

Maybe start with deciding which coins you plan on mining and how to monetize it.
You may need custom ASIC's so knowing the coin will frame what is realistic. It's a terrible idea in modern times to just go into crypto without a good idea of costs and returns.

I've been trying to get into GPU mining for a couple of months, as I wasn't prepared to grossly over pay for a GPU it's been impossible to get one. Instead I've gone all in on Chia, but they haven't yet released pools, and solo farming is getting harder every day, with just one plot expected average time to a win was 18 years, I expect with the rate of growth of the network that would be far higher now. Last night I was at 66 plots and 6 months estimated win.

All this Cryptocoin will soon go downhill. China putting a stop to it all. Good Luck

by all reports you can burn out a SSD in a couple of weeks the miners are now buying up server specific drives

If you are doing it for profit, then you are better off panning it on the market immediately and buying crypto with the sale - nb I'm not advocating for it. Just a cost benefit analysis, only get into mining if you are genuinely interested in how crypto works, what potential it can bring.

As for banning mining, it really doesn't make crypto go away - better target the nodes securing the blockchain network (and good luck with that)
