So, my copy arrived yesterday, gf watched hollyoaks then the tv was all mine :D

May I just say, I have NEVER seen anything look so good on a console before. It is truly stunning, even the gf commented on how good the graphics were.

I am only playing through the campaign at the moment, 1 setting below the 'supersoilder' setting (insane mode basically) and it is a real challenge. The controller layout is so lush it's very smooth to use.

The framerate is solid for the most part, which again, stuns me considering the amount of detail in the game!

Honestly am truly impressed with the title.

What console did you get it for? I'm seriously lacking in games at the moment unless I go through my back catalogue so might pick a copy of this up on Friday

What's the SP like?

On the 360.

Like I said, I am currently playing through the SP, it is really good! Story is still developing as I am only a couple of hours in, but taking my time, not for the fact I died a few times (checkpoints are very scarce!). But mainly for the fact there is nothing more satisfying than sitting on a roof top with your binoculars out, scouting the field and the soldier movement then picking your tactical approach. Be it rushing in with grenades flying, 1 handed bullet spraying slides with armor mode on. Or, like me, cloak, 1 enemy at a time slowly working your way to the next checkpoint.

The maps feel very... Open and claustrophobic at the same time. But in a very good way, you clearly have more than 1 option in terms of moving accross the map. Think of it as a bunch of smaller maps within one large map per 'area'.

So I could just run in a straight line to my next checkpoint or I can go under the ground using the sewage system to bypass all enemies and come out the other end a block or 2 away from my checkpoint but greatly reducing threat.

That was exactly the sort of thing I used to love about Deus Ex. There was always another way to your objective and you were totally in control. So I'm looking forward to this... will be great to see a more modern style of that urban gameplay.

I'm hoping the rest of the game sticks to the same sort of theme and not turn into a linear gun hoe sort of playstyle.

But yes, like you, I loved Deus Ex for the exact same reason. Huge fan of Crysis 1 and warhead as well...

So I am glad they did good with this one.

One thing I am not sure on though, is the AI 'spawn'...

It seems the times I have come out guns blazing, there is a none stop supply of enemies, as in I will initially see 5 enemies in a crossroad section, I kill them with guns blazing, the threat meter is at max, then a further 20 just come out of nowhere and basically keep coming unless I get my threat down. Not sure if that is meant to add a 'realistic' feel of being in a city full of army guys. Or just a bad choice in gameplay terms. Time will tell as I troll through the game tonight.

Oh, and I encountered my first aliens last night... They are bloody creepy and tough to kill, they go jumping around at speed so impossible to shoot. They only stop for 3 seconds at a time to fire some shots at you. Which doesn't seem to be in a script cycle, just as and when they can safely so some very good AI there. Or when they suddenly decide to charge at you... Which really does make you tense up lol.

Yeah, all the suit abilities are on their own buttons and have been streamlined. Sprint is speed mode by default for example, and strength jump is basically down to whether you hold the jump button down or not. Armor mode is a separate mode instead of by default, but it gives you much higher survivability and accuracy.

It's much better than the first game. You could actually do all the things you've mentioned in your post though. The abilities in the original could be hotkeyed.

Spot on comment, the sprint (speed) is just a click on a analogue stick, the armor is a shoulder button, ect ect.

Very easy to mix them up into a nice combo, suck as sprinting in cloak, flank the enemy and slap on armor to wipe them out.

Well, played some more last night, had a huge bug where a loaded checkpoint kept freezing my 360, had to restart the mission again... Was not impressed :(

Also, the enemies just keep coming, no matter how many you kill, they just keep spawning until you peg it to your next checkpoint. Which I am finding my self doing. And I dislike that...

Other than that, still going strong and enjoying it!

Bring on the comparison shots followed by the horde of fanbois then!

I am impressed with the 360 visuals, considering it's ancient technology, the cry engine has stunned me.

I hope they pull off a even better result on the ps3, don't own one but will be awsome to see what they can do with a whole different set of hardware!

@dannyjo22

I will test tonight, see if it's just me or the game does infact spawn enemies.

Just placed order on Amazon for PC, but part of me is still wanting this on PS3 for some duff reason!

One main reason I gave up rig's was so that I can laze out on the sofa with a beer, a controller, couple of mates also with controllers and ease of play :)

I don't miss sitting a foot away from a monitor on my own with headphones on to be honest.

The graphic dip (all be it huge) is something I can tolerate for the above.

Didn't get a chance to play this last night, was down the pub instead.

Will hopefully get more gametime in tonight though.

Guys, I played a bit more last night, and although I suck at it, I am really still enjoying it!

Who has completed it? I am at the part where that huge spike comes out the ground with deadly fart gas.... Those who have played this part will know what I mean :)
