Crysis 2 black screen issues

Recently installed (and reinstalled) Crysis 2 on my newly built rig. Also installed the high-res texture pack and dx11 upgrade from a link found ingame. Now it seems to work fine and then randomly the screen will go black and my comp will lock-up, I.e. can't get back to windows or onto task manager. Have to turn the comp off using the power button.

This is really starting to bug me. I've turned both add-ons off to see if it would help but it hasn't.

Specs:

FX6300
Gigabyte 970a-u3dp
8gb Kingston Hyperx 1866mhz
Sapphire radeon 280x OC edition 3gb
Corsair builder series 600w psu
Crucial mx100 256gb SSD

Have tried two different versions of the catalyst control center (versions 14.4 and 14.6), there appears to be no difference in performance, currently using 14.6. My GPU temp stays 75 or under. And this issue only occurs with this game, every other game I've ran runs seamlessly (planetside 2, ghost recon, company of heroes 2).
Crysis itself is up-to-date (version 1.9) but still appears to be black screening (with in-game sound).

Hopefully someone has fixed a similar problem.

Cheers, adam. :)

i actually had no end of issues with the base version of the game..

i installed a mod for it (Cant remember the name) it fixed all my crashing and black screen issues

Well guys it just happened again with the mech multiplayer game HAWKEN. So I imagine it's not just an isolated issue. Although it seems to happen with Crysis a lot more frequently, perhaps because it's the most demanding game I play? Most demanding GPU wise anyway.

I was under the impression that you couldn't update DX11, as there is no individual downloads for it, they come attached to windows updates. I tried underclocking the card alittle, -20 to memory and core clock. Didn't help.

It's worth noting that before installing the DX11 upgrade and enhanced texture pack that I had no issue with crysis. I can't even get past the opening sequence without it crashing now. But even so, if it is an issue with DX11, why did HAWKEN crash?

Thanks for the help guys. Tomorrow I'm going to get rid of the upgrades and try and play the base version of crysis.
