Crysis 2 causing shutdown.

Hi, I've encountered a bit of a problem with my newish PC build and am at a loss to explain it :(

While playing Crysis 2, my computer just turns off, this has happened about 5-10 times now. I have not encountered this problem with any other game and my computer is working absolutely fine otherwise as far as I can tell. I'm running the game very smoothly on max settings, and then boom, it turns off.

At first I thought my PC might be overheating, but my CPU is only reaching around 50-55 maximum. Maybe the GPU is overheating? The other obvious cause is the PSU...I have a Corsair TX650w - surely more than enough power for 560ti + 3570k + 2 hdds + Z77 mobo? If it was faulty, why would only 1 application be affected? I'm worried I might have damaged a component when building it.

Hmph. Any ideas?
 
what dram and cpu vtt voltages are you using? that game uses a lot of ram could be that thats restarting your pc if not stable
 
I haven't changed the voltages or anything, although in the bios my ram - Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz 3.5v 8gb - is displayed as 1333 mhz by default, I changed it to 1600 mhz. I'm not sure if that's normal? I haven't overclocked either.
 
try with 1333mhz first and see if it still crashes if not i can tell you some voltages to try with 1600mhz memory speed
 
Is it 1.35v rated ram? It might only be that voltage for 1333mhz,for 1600mhz you might need to set dram voltage to 1.5v or 1.55v,if its too low it will crash if under stress ect
 
It's 560 448 core edition, 1284 memory. I have not overclocked it. About the ram, I did not know that, that may well be the problem. If I try running it at 1600mhz, 1.5v, is there any chance I could damage it?
 
I don't think you will damage it,I'm running some Samsung green that's 1.35v rated at 1.55v

To be sure first try just 1333mhz and 1.35v voltage,and test crysis2
 
just look on the side of one of the sticks of RAM, make sur eyou have set the timings (9.9.9.24) and the voltage @ 1.35 and frequency to 1600mhz. Also run it in 2t mode not 1t.

Those timings were taken from a quick google for it, is it the arctic white stuff? if so they are exact timings, if its something else they might be tighter/slacker
See if that works.
 
Just download and install Cpuz. When you open, click memory, this will tell you make and model of your ram. then click SPD, this will tell you your ram settings. Quicker than having to remove a stick.
 
Unfortunately my PC is still turning off, even after resetting ram settings in bios back to auto. Is it possible my power supply is faulty, and it's being shown up by a demanding game?
 
psu sahould be fine, "auto" settings will not be correct and "can" cause issues. set them manually to what is stated on the ram stick itself.
