So the new DX11 and Hi Res Texture Pack has arrived!

Only problem is, my computer only just hits 30fps as minimum.

Now firstly I own a AMD Radeon 6950, I thought this was a pretty good card thats capable of playing games like this at 1080p?

Questions must be raised however about my processor.

Would I see a dramatic improvement if I was to get a i5 760?

Have you OCd your CPU? If not try that first I would suggest, as long as you can OC to around 3.4 GHz there should be no need to upgrade as anything above this has minimal effect

Whilst you do have decent card it still wont max out games on max settings, try turning a couple of the settings down and see how it effects your FPS, you should still be able to have most things on high, just tone down a couple (eg AA, any sort of distance rendering)

very few rigs will slay that game now maxed out.

i have a gtx 590
i7 2600k oc to 4.6 stable
8 gig ram
2 x ocz agility 3's in raid 0
30" Dell u310

Maxed out it doesnt play well. Not smooth enough at full resoultion. Granted on a 23" screen it wouldnt be a prob lol.

You're going to need a 580 and above if you want everything on full etc.

I had to tweak my settings to get my 6950 to play the game at an acceptable frame rate.

I have to be honest though. I was pretty underwhelmed when I had everything set to ultra.

Oooo.. who's got a download link for this please?

They may not see the PC as the main platform anymore (as they make more money on console sales), but it's great they are supporting the PC community still.

Not really much point d/ling it in that case. The so called "texture pack" and DX11 don't make a whole great deal of difference. Competitive forums are pretty angry that Crytek can get away with calling this a high res DX11 pack.

Just food for thought, if it s a 'hi-res texture pack', then perhaps if you have the 1gb 6950 there might be a vram limitation issue here?

Wait, is everyone getting different performance?

My system is maxing it out on ultra with dx11 at 1680 x 1050, and i'm not seeing a performance hit at all?

different resolutions, different number of monitors, cpu bottlenecks, there are a lot of variables :)
