I just notice there now Crysis 2 - Maximum Edition listed forsale on steam..

Do you think it worth upgrading from the normal crysis 2 to this one ??

Already own Crysis 2 on Steam?
As an existing Crysis 2 customer you can upgrade to the Maximum Edition for 50% off the purchase price!

Offer ends June 12 at 10am Pacific Time

Considering multiplayer crysis 2 is all but dead, this maximum edition does not warrant a purchase. lol at 50% off, it's not worth a fiver never mind £12.

Oh heck YEAH!

Cracking game and Id gladly pay that just to have it on Steam so I can remove yet 1 more game from my Origin account. Now its just used for BF3!

I know it wont make a single difference but its my personal 'up yours' to EA.

By paying for their game twice? Great idea.

Bought this on release day through EA's Origin and installed it once, played it right through thoroughly enjoying myself, then wanted to play it with the mods but it said i ran out of installs ??? contacted EA support but they said i had to buy the game again, not been able to play since so this is welcome news seeing as it has no install limits ^^

What exactly is the 'Maximum Edition' does it just mean its the base game with all the DLC?

Do you think the same will happen with BF3?

Well based on what EA said at the time it could only mean that its content complete, i.e. they will make no more DLC for the game, thats way its the max edition could go back on steam,

However if the Gable/valve version is right, i.e. he had no idea why EA where kicking off, then EA clearly on a money grab, leaving the bigger question "has origin become to big a money sink for them?"

also

Now that Mass Effect 3, BF3 are out the way what is there to make you buy from origin over any other system?

Could we start to see some class act back peddle from EA, its E3 next week, way to drive sales by coming out and saying BF3 going to steam

Call support. It's just an activation issue they can increase that for you NP so long as you know your code.

""has origin become to big a money sink for them?"
AFAIK, Digital revenue was up $1.2bn as of Q4 for FY2012. Can't imagine Origin being a money sink.

Maybe Digital revenue was up 1.2bn dollars, but within that origin only made 150mil revenue and lets be clear that dollars not good old pounds so its a lot less to me and you.

On top of that revenue is not the same as profit, you also notice that little * at the end, yep not all measures are used to make that number, once you take account all measures + wages, Ops cost yep even the elec bill that 150mil is starting to go down real fast.

To give you an idea of how that hits, the business i run, turns over 3.5mil revenue each year (thats uk mil's so real money), the wage bill alone is £250,000 per year, once you take everything off we will be lucky to walk away with £300,000 profit.

So i would say now that origins big hitters are out the way, the platform has got to be sinking money, they need a big run of PC titles that people want, do they have them? well E3 next week, who knows?
