Hi there I have recently updated crysis 2, i have installed the dx11 patch and also the high resoultion texture pack, aswell as steam keeps updating the game.
anyway the game works and looks great!
however when I start the game it changes my display to 1920 x 1080p 24hz
and everything seems to be sluggish. I go to graphics options and change sync to off then back on and it fixes this issue. and it all runs great. I have to do this everytime i want to play the game!
Do you think there is a bug in the software or is it my display wrongly recognising the input?
Thanks

I remember having this problem with the first crysis game, with that game it was a case of alt+tab out and back into the game a few times to force 60hz and above, either that or leave it in windowed mode!

I found this on the steam forums with reguards to crysis 2:-
Go to the:

Nvidia control panel

Display

Adjust Desktop size and position

then make sure you select GPU scaling, check the override box and select Full screen

Use Alt-Enter if it doesn't switch automatically

And

This is a Windows 7 thing. Its nothing to do with ATI or Nvidia drivers.

Run Regedit go to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoActiveDesktopChange s and if the value is 1 change it to 0.

That should stop any 24HZ issues, including the infamous Crysis 24hz at 1080p bug. By default XP and Vista already have this value at 0, it has been changed for Windows 7 for whatever reason.

Another way to do it if you are not comfortable with registry editing is to download Malwarebytes and run a quick scan. The program will report this issue as a false positive. Tell it to fix the issue and it will set the key to 0 for you.

You may have to hit ALT - Enter after this but at least it will go to full screen and not a windowed mode at 60hz

I'm glad i hit that 2nd quote about regedit, i stopped playing crysis because of this...

Tell me about it, going to try the regedit 'trick' tonight, see if it solves my 24hz problems with Prototype as well.

The regedit fix didn't work for prototype, though a replaced prototypepref.dll file did (I was also having resolution problems as well as 24hz with this game). pretty sure I have Crysis and warhead backed up so I'll try get round to installing them later tonight and report back!

Edit: No it didn't work for crysis either, still reverts to 24hz as soon as I full screen it, Just going to use the RadeonPRO program to over-ride the screen refresh back to 60hz
