Guru 3d has a article saying there might be a remaster of crysis 2 my thoughts Don't do it 1st one was crap .

Not even played the 1st remaster so not much chance of me looking at this. Shame as I really enjoyed Crysis way back in the day.

id really love to see crysis2 proper (longshot I no) then it would make up for that crap they brought out before.
don't change anything (that means leave the gun noises as they are ).

It was OK, and Hans Zimmer did some of the soundtrack.

It wasn't awful.

I think it got a lot of hate because it released on consoles instead of staying a PC-only franchise.

It also was reduced to being a corridor shooter with much less emphasis on being able to attack from lots of locations in open areas. It was ok in some ways but it really got very linear with the second game.

Was actually thinking of replaying this again the other week. Will hold of now though, suspect it will have RTX ray tracing too, hopefully more effects are added in than the first remaster though as this could look stunning with full RTX

If it wasn't for the superb MaLDoHD/Blackfire's mods I probably wouldn't have played it more than once.

Those mods really do elevate the experience from an alright one to something considerably better, IMO.

I loved Crysis (and Warhead was good too), but Crysis 2 was an awful consolised experience. All that was good in the first game was left out, and it turned into a formulaic corridor shooter with occasional tightly constrained open areas with waist high boxes for cover.

Don't see the point in remastering this. The first release still works on my PC and no amount of texture work or lighting updates will make it a better game in my opinion.

Yeah, after the "consolisation" it lost what made Crysis groundbreaking

Getting fed up with all these remasters of relatively modern games now. It feels like a bit of a waste, a 10 year old game from someone like Crytek will still look great and generally have enough modern influence to not feel clunky. The games that we really need remasters of are the ones that are say 20 years old surely, much bigger upgrade in terms of visuals, modern interface / game mechanics etc. Freespace 2, Morrowind, stuff like that (to be fair mod community has had a good stab at these).

To combat my own argument I suppose some older games are so flawed by modern standards they need a remake rather than a remaster, but it's getting out of hand lately, seems like the easy option is to pick a game that's a bit old but not so old it needs much changing, slap some new textures on it, tune the interface and add support for widescreen / HDR / whatever, bundle with the DLC and cash in.
