So we're hopefully only a few months away from Crysis 2, what do people think of it? Do they feel that it might be a let down considering features that couldn't be done on console will be omitted from the PC version? Looking at the gameplay videos I personally can't see if there is that much of a graphical difference between it and Crysis/Crysis Warhead but I could be wrong.

I've not followed it closely to be honest but I'm not keen on what I have seen.

I was one of the few who actually enjoyed Crysis as a game rather than a tech demo. The freedom you were given to go about completing the game was great and created lots of "Crysis moments" (a phrase some friends and I still use for those "wow" moments in games when things all come together).

This new one seems to have taken away that freedom, removed the lovely jungle, then dropped you into the over exposed greyness of NYC. They may as well have gone all the way and set it in WWII.

Gameplay now looks like any other generic shooter.

Not too fussed about it, the first Crysis was basically as stated above, a show off for what the CryEngine can do, i expect the same for the second.

Nice eye candy, crap gameplay.

tbh i tend to find that in a lot of pc games just lately that they all tend to be a let down of what i was expecting.
perhaps i want too much, or is it that games are being developed more for the consoles and therefor having most of the developement cash thrown at them?.
so i can only say i wont buy a game without i can try a beta/free trail these days so i can at least have a idea what to expect.

same goes for crisis 2

I ditto that, i need a demo or a free trial before i buy a game now.

Not particulary excited about it anymore, the original was to show the PC was capable of massive outdoor enviroments including stunning visuals that 3 years later are still arguably the best out there

Crysis 2 is a console game, consoles cant handle the outdoor enviroments Crytek admitted this but they still wanted to push consoles to their limits so they created a game in a city enviroment from what i've seen they have done a good job too!

We still havent seen any PC gameplay footage so the PC version will either be superior if they bother to optimise or a console port, this is why I am not excited about the game, also there doesnt seem to be any human enemies which is a shame, I hope there is though, the best parts of Crysis were toying with the human AI which IMO was fantastic and still some of the best AI in a game to date

I loved the initial levels in the first Crysis where the visuals were great and the gameplay was fun. I didn't like the zero mavity section like most people and the aliens where not as much fun in combat.

Either way I'll certainly be snapping up Crysis 2 when it comes out, although I'm definately not as excited about it as I was with the original.

I actually enjoy Crysis far more now that I did when it first came out. Looking forward to Crysis 2, at least the consolification will mean it performs better. I think Crytek will do a decent job of it. Nanosuit was great in Crysis but the limitations (e.g. you could only sprint for a few seconds) weren't, looks like Crysis 2 will be better there too.

I can't wait for it to come out..

As crysis was one of the very few games that i completely finished..:)
Yes there was a few levels in it i hated like the stupid floating level. But the other levels and great graphics more then made up for it..

I Started play through the first crysis again a few months ago now i have much better hardware (SLI GtX 275)..
When i completed the first one just after it was released i only had a single 8800gtx trying to run it at 1920x1200 :(

I enjoyed the first a little bit but the last few levels spoilt it for me, they made the game too linear and took away your freedom to try different ways to finish the level. With the new game being set in the city I can't really see it having the same amount of freedom that the first few levels of Crysis gave. Also from the videos i've seen the AI looks really dodgy in places, I will propbably wait a while to see how people rate it but tbh I haven't really got high hopes for it.

Haven't even played Warhead because the first one was so dull. Can't see me getting involved in this one.

Maybe I shouldn't be in this thread lol.
