ive got crysis 3 pretty much maxed out on 1080p with my gtx 560ti 448 and its quite smooth.....what kind of graphics difference would you get with say a gtx 690 or would it just be more fps...if so whats the point paying £1000 for a graphics card

I really doubt you have Crysis 3 maxed out on a 560ti. And if you have, then you'll get about 10fps which is hardly playable. The more expensive video cards won't give you better graphics at the same settings, but they will run it at a far faster frame rate.

By your theory we should still all have 8800GTX's.

The difference is your graphics card is probably running it at about 20fps which is way below what most would deam acceptable its more like a slideshow then a game right? Although peoples perception of "smooth" varies wildly. (try putting your settings on low and tell me its not a lot smoother?)

You should probably be running at medium/low for a better experience 40-60fps which is what most consider reasonably smooth and thats when these more expensive graphics cards come in.

I don't think anybody would pay 1K to play at 1080P usually only to run at much higher resolution or running multiple monitors. £250 is about what the PC gaming enthusiast is spending.

Like i started.... this game would "run" on graphics cards ranging back 5+ years whether or not the play experience is acceptable though is another thing entirely.

It's a 560 to 448. Nearly a 570. Everything is maxed and its msax4 I think and it doesn't judder at all. Prob about 40 fps. You must be getting hundreds of fps with 680s

That was the answer I was looking for. So a 250 quid graphics card. Prob a 670 would be all you need to see the best 1080 p graphics

I have to tweak settings to get my 7970 to average at 50+ in single player seems i should have bought a 560 instead.

C'mon guys, let's not get all GD here :)

Daz, are you using afterburner or something similar? If so, get it to display the fps while you're playing.
Also, what are the exact settings you're using?
