Crysis AA problem

I take we arn't talking about crysis then.

Crysis doesn't even run smoothly with no AA. With 16xAA it will be a complete slideshow regardless of the hardware used.

I've now tried with no AA and the performance is the same, and i still get the odd graphics glitch. I can't go 16Q, but 16 aa seems fine.

I played it on Vista and I agree it was a slide show with medium settings and low AA, but since I've been on XP I have no performance issues and have it all set to high.

Although the 4gb of ram maybe helping.

The performance is the same because AA is not working... Don't think you have quite grasped this. When you force AA in the control panel, it is not applying it in-game. Try the in-game AA settings and then tell us the performance is the same.

to be honest i noticed VERY little difference visually using AA, so i turned if off and turned post-processing/texture/object detail to very high, looked better and ran similar

Just got Crysis yesterday and on my new 8800GT is awful, even at 1024x768. Did they program it in JavaScript or what!

Going to turn off AA when I get home tonight, download the beta nVid drivers as suggested then sacrifice some goats and see what happens.

16xAA in Crysis will be like 3DMark CPU test :)

Try running it in dx9 mode, that's what helped mine the most :)

Don't expect to run at 60fps, anything over 20fps is acceptable and runs better than you think, I did find Vista slower and much laggier with the mouse.

I use the edited CVARS and config files to run with some settings on Very High in XP and at 1280*1024, 2xAA, 8xAF I get a framerate of ~20fps

see that just SHOULDN'T happen, i can play high settings on my 8800GTS (320) and get playable frame/rate all until the frozen part, what drivers you using?

Im really just looking for something that is playable and doesnt give me headaches LOL

Eg: When I got HalfLife2 in 2004 and it ran nicely on the ATI 9800Pro back then - was kinda hoping Crysis would run similarly now on my new rig with 8800gt.

BTW how do I put it into DX9 mode?

THanks to everyne for the replies, such a good community this!
