Does Crysis use crossfire, As when i came out of the game opened up catalyst control panel and the temp for the first card was 65 0/c but the second card was normal 43 0/c, looks like it was doing nothing at all.

When i come out of call duty 5 both cards always show higher temps which tells me they are both working.

Thanks

when i had 8800 gt's in sli it ran slower on crysis with sli enabled. I think it can sometimes be the same with xfire.

To be honest it is probably because crysis is crap at crossfire.

I know it sounds stupid but have you checked xfire is enabled in ccc.

I have just sold my second 4870 as I found that crossfire wasn't all I'd imagined. In crysis I get better performance with one card than I ever got with 2.

im led to belive that crysis simply dosent like ATI cards ive had a single 4870 ,4870 CF and now a 4870 X2 and performance still isnt brilliant

I have a 2900XT 2GB overclocked with an Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme unit on it and temps hover around the 30's to 40's idle and up to 65'c full load, Point is i can play everything on max to date including crysis at 1400x900 and at a nice frame rate of 30 to mid 40's but no AA.
Im quite serious when i say the 2900 was the last best single gpu card solution ATI made, sure the 4870 has 800 shade processors but from the reports ive seen from people on here they have nothing but problems and then theres the 4870x2 which is just twice the amount of problems in 1 bundle.

I disagree, both 4870s I've owned have been superb cards, the only issues I've encountered were related to crossfire.

Well i was in call of duty 5 and still temps are allot lower?

ccc does show Xfire on and i can select both GPU,s I just wish a logo would come up when you go into a game as a definitive yes Xfire is on.

Anyone with crossfire could you some gaming then go straight to ccc and check your temps and post back "If you dont mind that is".

GPUz also shows Xfire on, Is there any good apps that can test Xfire on screen and also shoe ccc so you can see what is going on???

Here's mine after 10 mins of COD5 session.

The second GPU is still about 5C lower in temp than the first despite equal load.

Also there is an option in the tray icon you can enable that will show crossfire x logo in supported games, it doesn't actually tell you anything though.

Crysis doesnt seem to use the full potential of ATI cards, running GPU-Z and monitoring gpu usage playing crysis, i would see usage of around 50-65% whe other games where 90% +

Crysis is poorly coded for multi-gpu, simple as that.

Games aren't coded for multi-GPU though, they don't even know it exists.

Crossfire/SLI are primarily driver based hacks requiring profiles to work, that's why compatibility and performance generally sucks outside of the most popular games.

If anyone is to blame for lackluster multi-GPU performance it's the GPU vendor, either they haven't put the effort into optimizing the drivers or the technology itself has limitations that drivers alone can't fix.

Great response Steve258 thank you,

What I have noticed is sometimes when i start cod5 the screen will do a sort of double roll then when in the game FPS is high, But if i do not get that double roll when going into the game the FPS is low, so maybe sometimes Xfire is not on.

I done what you said Steve about the crossfire logo when starting a game and also i set Cat Ai to advance and seems to work better well we will see.

seems that the crossfire logo will start when it wants too, so when it does not kick in you keep asking yourself if you are in crossfire mode.

I can not get the crossfire logo to start up in Crysis.

I thought all this crossfire stuff was all sorted oh well....
