crysis changes settings on its own

crysis keeps changing the graphics settings on its own, i set to medium which my card can handle and it sets to custom half way through playing so then the game goes slow and glitches all the time.

any ideas why it would do this?

Have you got any custom configs installed? I think these tend to modify settings on their own.

i did have the natural mod about a week ago but found it slowed my system to much so unistalled, game has been fine since till earlier when i was playing.
