Crysis could be possible on Xbox 360

The main arguement about Crysis not coming to the consoles 360 and PS3 is because on the technical part wouldn't be possible, because DX10 is missing.

There could be a change for the XBOX 360. ATI recently announced that on the 360 it's possible to install DX10 by an update. It could mean a lot of DX10 games coming to 360, especially with XNA and cross over programming. It looks like a clear case when Microsoft is talking about Live anywhere. If new games will use DX10, it would be more then likely that the 360 runs DX10.

Crysis is one of these games. In this video interview the president of Crytek is telling at this moment, in this form it won't be released on other platforms then PC also because it would be technically hard and scattered resources, but with the new information from ATI and DX10 for XBOX 360 that could all change.

Hmmm, if its true then interesting, but i smell BS - plus i think even if DX10 was possible Crysis may still remain PC - ill believe when i see.

and have you got the source please?

i dont see how thats possible Dx10 requires dx10 hardware unless ATI made the xbox 360 graphics DX10 compatible surely they would have stated so in the specs/as a marketing thing as its a pretty good thing to have

i have always understood that the ATI chipset in the 360 is compatable with some direct x 10 stuff being custom made with this in mind its sort of direct x 9.5

If Crysis is going to be the big hit it likey to be, then its going to be on the 360 and PS3 regardless of whether they are fully DX10 compliant.

I may be supprised, but i doulbt that DX10 will be a massive leap in graphical performance compared to DX9.

I am curious about all of this though, as although they say it runs on DX10, where the E3 demo's etc not all runing on DX9?? therefore making it compatible?
Also to get full effects of DX10 wont you need DX10 hardware also? so the game must be able to run in some form of DX9 mode.
And if MS did not implement some way to get DX10 games running on a 360 then they are very very very very foolish, which they are not ;)

Link isnt working for me, webmaster has been informed

As far as i have understood the xbox 360 isnt actually DirectX specific anyway.. and as someone else rightly points out.. most demos are running in DX9 mode albeit on sli/crossfire setups..

I think it will come to xbox 360.. but probably not for a while and slightly modified as with the Farcry games..

The 360 jerks all over on games like Full Auto, I can't see it running a flawless rendition of Crysis.

The ATi GPU is capable of a lot of DirectX 10 effects, ATi have always said this. It's a highly modified DX9 GPU which had features from DX10 on it. It's been known for a long time that the graphics we are seeing now aren't as good as they could be because we have to wait for DX10 to be finalised.

I dont think Full Auto is a good example of a 360 games capabilities.. It was rushed out for early 360 releases and early dev kits etc.. Games like gears of War should show whats more likely possible this side of xmas.

Id imiagine a version of Crysis will be more than possible, it just might not featue 100% of the DX10 stuff.. The kind of stuff 99% of Peoples PC's wouldnt be able to run either with first gen DX10 cards.

Uhh, I thought the whole deal with Crysis was that it still worked really well with DX9 class cards on the PC?

Yeh crysis looks amazing, If it comes to 360 I can see it being stripped down a bit as no way would the 360 run it perfectly, as much as I want it to

As long as its coded properly I don't personally see why it couldn't get ported.

The 360 runs its own version of the DX API which is sort of a halfway house between DX9c and DX10 so technically it should be possible.

It will all depends on how well the transition goes though. The only downside I can see is the apparent lack of system memory when compared to a top end pc. However this lack of memory doesn't seem to cause much of an issue with current games with games like COD2 looking pretty much identical to their pc counterparts (I had both versions on a pc and the 360).

The cpu design I would imagine would pay dividends with a game like crysis as well. The developers could just let one core do all of the physics work whilst having the other two for the rest of the game.

Only time will tell I suppose.
