I've been playing Crysis for the past few weeks now, on and off and all has been fine up untill now.

I've started the mission where you take out the AA guns and on approaching the first gun, the game simply crashes. I've had issues getting it going on steam in the first place and had to download the bin64 folder to get it to work.

This is the event view entry:

I've done some googleing, and using the error code '0xc0000005' from the event view entry, it looks like it need to enable DEP.

Also, no other games have had this issue.

Is this true?
Will it affect anyother apps i use? lightrooms, steam, office.....

Thanks muchly :D

I might be wrong, but should`nt that 64exe file be in the Bin64 folder. I have the disc version and have both Bin32 and Bin64 folders installed. But I only use the Crysis app. file in Bin64 to play the game.

Yeah, I know what you mean, but the steam version of all *****ed up. When i download the game on Steam and installed it, it didn't work, just crashed. The fix was to download the bin64 folder, which was not included when you get the Steam version, rename the Bin32 to Bin32old and just use the Bin64 folder and use the exe in there.

It's been working fine till now, any ideas on if DEP would fix and if it's safe to enable?

Looking at your Event properties the faulting application path shows the crysis64.exe is in the bin32 folder and not the bin64 folder.
In my bin64 folder the crysis64.exe is a 53KB application.

As far as DEP goes, it should already be activated.

Does this help:

If I rename the Bin32 to Bin64, it crashes with an error, it has to be labelled as Bin32 to work. I'm going to try and rename Bin32 to Bin64 and Bin32old to Bin32 and use the 64bit exe, but I doubt it would make a difference. Steam have really messed this up!!

EDIT - Yeah, no different, just crash's out. Same place every time :(:(

Watch out, some of the morons on this forum will accuse you of piracy for having this issue!

The actual problem is your motherboard, I used to have an AM3+ and a FX myself and had this issue, swapping to a Z77/3570k has since fixed it.

I don't see how that would cause this particular issue. It's been fine up to now!!

A quick google suggests a sound card driver problem whence 'crysoundsystem.dll'.
I'd start to investigate that area. Maybe disable sound and re-test, then you can see if it is indeed the problem.

Another thing to test: actually use the 32bit version and see if you have a problem.
The 64bit version is a bit buggy (especially in the final level where it can become unplayable), and there's no real advantage to using the 64bit version.
