Im planning on purchasing Crysis which looks amazing, as im aware its being released June/July 07 and i want to make the purchase, but i just want to see if my machine will be ok running it.

Obviously i dont expect it to be as good as they show in the trailer but i want to be able to play it without it stuttering, and it should look good.

See sig for spec. Im planning an upgrade on ram from 2gig to 4gig.

Would the spec be ok?

Your 7600gt graphics card will be holding you back much more then your 2gb of ram...

What res do you play at....

But till Crysis gets released...No ones really going to know what spec system we going to need to run it at a playable framerate...

From what I read the game is highly customable. With GFX options. So touch wood should be ok

Crysis Release Date: (US) June, 2007 | (UK) June, 2007| (AU) June, 2007
Developer: Crytek
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Genre: SCI-FI FPS
Platform: PC Exclusive

Wiki say Q3 2007

I got this from the Crysis forum:

http://incrysis.com/forums/index.php

When will Crysis be released?
Crysis is planned to be released EA's fiscal year 2007, which means April 2007 - March 2008. Most likely we'll see Crysis in stores in Q2 2007, though. (April - June 2007) Don't believe any release date on any site other than the official one.

The dates between Apr 07 and Mar 08 is very vague, but gives them a bit of time. I expect the game to be released either in time for Xmas, or Q1 2008

personly I would not do anything to that ntill u get an official date , and an offcial spec required.

look at my rig, it might not be dual core, but it still packs a punch, running oblivion etc on 1600x1200, you'd be wasting your money if you upgraded now

Im running at widescreen res (1440x900) If need be i wouldnt be too fussed about upgrading the graphics card, but as said ill probably go ahead with that closer to the release date.

On a different note. I'm very impressed by the way Crytek is handling their PR and the way they keep giving out info on almost a daily basis. Not a day goes buy where I don't read something new and cool about the game. There's an all expensives paid trip happening in Germany today where Crytek invited loads of modders, fans and fansite owners to experience the game first hand. The CEO constanly gives interviews and so does most of the senior designers and programmers. No wonder they've been so insanely successful in a relative short life time. Look after your customers properly and they'll look after you.

Cant someone find out what the developers play it on, cause am sure they wont play it on an inferior machine. Then you may have an idea of what to aim for.

Apparently the game (or engine?) has been future proofed. Meaning it will bring todays TOP spec pc to it's knees on full settings, but means it will still be one of the best looking games out for years to come when specs increase and your able to push the settings up

I'll whack in another 8800GTS 640MB when Crysis show up anf that should allow me to play at at least 80% max settings.

The recent reports/videos of gameplay have been running on a Core 2 Duo X6800 (2.93Ghz), 2 GB RAM, 8800 GTX, Vista - DX10.

Even on this rig with the recent videos there has been some noticeable framerate drops, lack of optimisation? I'm not too sure at this stage.

I also remember reading an interview from an (art) designer on crysis-online.com who claimed to be running with a X1900 XT and getting good playable results, but as for the level of detail/quality he did not expand upon.

Stupid to buy a graphics card for a game that isn't even out yet, or even has a release date, someone already made that mistake and got a GTS, thus sold it due to the game not appearing yet, lesson learned there, you buy a card for the now, Dx9, which is what the 8 series are for, buy a Dx10 card when Dx10 is here. :D

Much like the old Farcry, still a stunning looking game.

Clearly not seen the g80 presentation video then have you? The one where they play it at maxed out settings on a big old projector and it runs fine....

On "a single 8800 graphics card". (quoted from the guy in the video)

But anyways, on that big projector the frame rate is really quite good and for the brief time that he's running around i was very impressed, i would happily play the game like that on a single card.

clearly haven't read much interviews with Cervat have you? He stated that when Crysis comes out, no machine will play it to maximum/ultra high settings. Someone else posted the same thing in this thread.

I'd be lucky to get to 80%.
