Crysis only for vista!

Hi guys been waiting for some info on this crysis game and i have just found out its vista only cant believe it, the game looks amazing and on my new rig im sure it would run a treat been looking forward to this 4 so long and they go and make it a dx10 game really hope they make it compat with dx9 but i doubt it anyone else been looking forward to this game?

The DX10 version is Vista only, DX9 is for XP.

DX9 is for Vista too, just depends on your hardware.

I bet halo 2 will be xp compatible it will just not use dx10 stuff thats all. Same goes for any game really. I mean you really cant have a vista only game since theres nothing really stoping any game working on xp etc.

if its dx10 only and not dx9 compatible, then you will have to use vista. as xp does not support dx10. There are some dx10 workarounds being designed at the moment but I expect they will be like most emulators and kill the fps.

dx 10 only well they would still in theory work on xp just use dx9 stuff instead. I mean dx10 is built up using dx9 etc components. Well thats how i look at it.

dx10 is not backward compatible with dx9. So no it doesn't work like that.

thats why most but not all games will be released with both dx10 and dx9 support.

Ah well there will be some way around it i guess theres already work on some dx10 patches for xp etc.

This thread is a headache.

Just to clarify, DX10 is not backwars compatible. DX10 is not a development of DX9, it has been built from the ground up.

Halo will be Vista only, not because of DX10, because of M$. Crysis will live on XP and Vista.

Companies aren't going to release dx10 only games for years, because hardly anyone has vista and even less people have dx10 cards. They would have no customers.

It will be like this :-

XP - Crysis DX9 only

Vista - Crysis DX9 and DX10

Depending on hardware of course.

It's DirectX 7, uness it's a Wednesday....then it's only DirectX 3. However, the Special Edition should also work in DirectX 8.1 and Nintendo DS, but only the Japanese version - the rest of us get a DirectX 6 version, which will also work on PS1.
