Hi
Just installed Crysis last night. I don't have a cutting edge PC but it's still pretty fast so I expected to be able to play Crysis at Very High settings at 1280x1024 without any AA.
When I clicked the optimal settings button it chose medium! I set everything to very high anyway but it's lagging with a rather poor framerate. Looks awesome though! Surely my system should manage this?
I found this comment in another thread:
Surely mine should therefore cope? Will newer drivers help?
My specs:
- AMD Athlon FX62
- 4GB DDR2 800MHz memory (@4-4-4-12)
- Radeon HD2900XT 512MB
- 74GB Raptor hard drive for Windows and Crysis just defragged
- Antec NeoHE 550W PSU
- Vista Business x64
Running the 64-bit version of Crysis.
The hard drive seems to be reading a lot too which I wouldn't have expected with 4GB of ram
1280x1024 without any AA is pretty low really in today's world of large widescreen displays but am I just expecting too much from my system? Is Vista killing the framerate?
Thanks

kk, thanks guys al try fiddling with my resolution and i'll try that full screen thing. The replies were much apreciated, thank you all.
Ps. to the guy who wanted to know my spec,
mobo= Gigabyte 965p-DS3
Ram- 2Gig (2x 1gig DDR2 dual channel sticks)
CPU- E6600 2.4GHz core 2 duo
GFX= Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX (twice factory overclocked)
PSU= BFG 800watt
Sound= 5.1 on a Creative sound blaster X-Fi platinum fatal1ty champion edition sound card
500gig hard drive aswell
Personally i was suprised that crysis ran full spec on that but it does. Clicked the optimal setting button and it said "very high" a was like h*ll yeah, went through made sure everything was on very high nd runs smooth as butter.
