graphics do make the gameplay better, the more you feel you can interact and that you're actually part of the world your playing in, the greater the gaming experience will be, even the most poorly designed games would feel like they played better if they had close to photo-realistic graphics, i'm not saying they'd be any good, but it would definitely improve them.

I've got a gut feeling the september timeframe is optimistic for this game and It'll probably come out around the christmas period.

yeah september does seem way optimistic if you ask me, it's only just in alpha isn't it? It must be pretty rare for any project to ship 4months after alpha, especially one on the scale of crysis.

The only direct link between graphics and gameplay imo is resolution, view distance and clarity.
I'd argue more in favour of sound quality and surround sound being more to do with immersion then graphics quality.

Like the forest pic dx pic above, being able to spot someone in dense forest effects both gameplay and graphics.
We'd need a 5 minute HD video to really guess if thats the way it really is in the finished product

Unless I missed the press release, its not at Alpha yet.

Alpha = Feature complete
Beta = Optimised and debugged
Golden = Content and debugging complete (work started on patch 1.1

)
Of course the pre alpha version has bugs and limitations...

Quoted for the truth!

If you look at some of the crysis videos you will see "pre-alpha" in the corner and you can notice background buildings and tress etc, flickering. The game is still very buggy apparently

Pc gamer have a 6 page article about crysis this month. Just had a read and it sounds amazing.

Apparently the sort of hardware that'll be able to play it full everything won't be around for 18 months :eek:

Also they said that they haven't finished it because the AI of the chickens is too basic

lol.

but you can apparently pick up anything (smaller than a car) and beat a korean up with it. Including the chickens

Also on the final level in the alien mothership, as it's in anti mavity if you shoot without being bolted to something with the magnetic boots in the nano suit, you'll fly in the opposite direction.

Sorry if any of this has already been said but it's got me so excited
