Though it hasn’t even been released yet, Cevat Yerli, the CEO of Crytek is already talking about the possibility of bringing the FPS, Crysis from the PC to next-gen consoles, but only if it it’s a big hit.

“What happens next we haven’t decided yet, because first we want to see how the game is received, publicly and critically… We believe it will be received at least as strong as Far Cry. I hope personally a 5% average increase… That would give us an argument to [say], ‘OK, let’s see how we can bring Crysis to consoles’. The engine right now is running on consoles so there’s no reason why we couldn’t.”

Wooooot :D

It doesn't bother me either way. From what I've seen, short of the visuals, it's as generic as they come. I hope I'm proven wrong of course.

Already posted this here dude, and agree with what Nokkon said, doesn't really appear to offer anything that Far Cry and others haven't done before it, graphically it does look sweet and I really hope it brings more to the table than I am lead to believe.

why dont they wait til the next gen of consoles (like xbox 3 and ps4 or whatever they will called)? At least that way they will be able to run them with all the details turned on which cant even be done on a 8800 ultra yet.

You don't know the next Xbox and Playstations will be able to do that themselves yet, let alone how well a 8800 Ultra will run Crysis since it isn't even out, the Beta isn't a good way to determine it.

yeah i suppose, but im just saying the devlopers said they have options/detail levels which will only be available when future, more powerful, hardware comes out.

Whatever way, i still think they should release it on next next gen consoles, and not rush it out on these ones.

Crysis loses much of its appeal when ranked along side the console big hitters. On the pc it has little to compete against - stick it against the Resident Evils and Metal Gears of this world and it's a whole different ball game.

Well obviously it will be because Crysis is a whole new game, not even an established series.

On PC though it's well known because of Far Cry which was quite a hit, on consoles however Far Cry is known for being pretty crap due to the poor port by Ubisoft. :o :p

Far Cry on the Xbox wasn't bad, it was the 360 version that was crapola. Who knows. They might release it twice like Far Cry. First on the 360/PS3 and then another enhanced version for Xbox 3/PS4.

Damn straight, Console wise, I doubt it'll even raise an eyebrow. Crysis is developed on PC, its going to be a great game I hope. Doom 3, Half life 2 and Far cry are all amazing games, And this looks to be a mix of the 3 with some AMAZING visuals thrown in.

Bring the game to console, and i can only seeing it losing all that it has making it appealing.

That doesn't matter, the console freaks will still lap it up, just like they did with Halo 3 which is about as generic as generic can get.

We'll have to disagree - Halo 3 is as far from generic in single player as i've experienced.

To get back on topic - I doubt many people would want a cut down port on the 360/ps3. The console version of Far Cry was arguably better than the original (not talking the 360 verson) because it was made from the ground up for that platform. Had it been a port it would likely have been awful.

Oh dear god, I hope you are joking. PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS A JOKE.

PS3 wont be able to handle it unless its dumbed down by a lot, i expect as said earlier it will be dire as previous generation remake console ports have shown us.

Actually, no. I know a fair few ppl who played both and prefered the Xbox version:

The problem with the pc verson for me was that, while it was awesome in the first few levels, it went down hill amazingly quickly once the Trigen were introduced. Insticts was consistently the better game and, imo, boasted more involved and varied gameplay.

Generic?

I've just jumped from an aircraft onto a 300ft high tank, destroyed it.Then i jumped on a quad where i was able to make a 50ft jump off a cliff on to the other scarab, which i also destroyed.

You people have no idea.

I walked through every level pretty much doing noting except shooting enemies, that was all. Shooting enemies. Running, shooting enemies. Moving to the next area, shooting enemies. How is that not generic? There's nothing special or different about it. There's no variation, no innovation, no originality. Just going around shooting enemies, it's the same thing over and over.

You do know thats what happens in a shoot'em up?

Do you play tiger woods and complain that its just a generic golf game?
