Crysis via 1080 Projector

Doesn't a 1080p projector have a resolution of 1920×1080?

Yes but it can also accept many other resolutions other than 1080p
Its a very capable unit.

VGA480 640 x 480
WIDE480 856 x 480
SVGA 800 x 600
WIDE600 1072 x 600
WIDE720 1280 x 720
XGA 1024 x 768
WIDE768 1280 x 768
MXGA 1152 x 864
SXGA 1280 x 1024
SXGA 1400 x 1050
WIDE768-1360 x 768
WIDE800 1280 x 800
WIDE900 1440 x 900

Also 1680x1050 works too yet isnt listed in its manual.

Have you installed Vista SP1 and Forceware 169.25 beta (I think)? Installed those 2 and got a decent performance boost in Crysis under Vista 64. I'm using an 8800GT at 1680x1050, everything on High, no AA (DX10).

Im sure your SLI 8600's will be more than capable of running crysis at 720p medium/high settings and give you a decent frame rate.

If not you can always drop the resolution down a notch to 1024x600 to maintain the widescreen aspect ratio. You may even get away with running 2xAA in that case.

Won't help, Mr. Latte very much as he is running a 8600. So, would be better for him to try the DX9 route, Drag suggested. ;)

To be honest Mr Latte, the game is pants anyways. It's just a glorified tech demo so all the kiddies can play around with configs more so than actually playing the game.

Not worth the hassle or spending any more money getting a new card for

The single player is good I think, not sure about multiplayer. When is that mod out for it...

Ive owned and played this on a clocked 8600GTS (7k 3dmark06) in dx9. I estimate you would have to drop the resolution, its that or use less then perfect graphic settings, personally I would drop the res as the game is too good looking to play on medium which is scratchy

Have you clocked those cards a lot? If not drop the res to 760p and run it on mostly high by visiting tweakguide and making a custom config, dont try to use the in game video selections.

Im guessing you have high standards and wont put up with drops in fps like I would so tbh really you should be selling and upgrading, a single 3850 or anything better would serve you well
