i have crysis but cannot get vsync to work i have used the 169.75 169.04 and the latest 169.09 drivers i have forced vsync in the nvdia control panel with tripple buffering have tryed nhancer and have tryed the crysis tweakguide which says u can use the command console in the game with the command
r_VSync [1] but it wont work and says unrestricted have also tryed to configure the target line with the the shortcut with the vsync command but still dosent work. i havent heard anybody else compain about no vysnc yet but im getting really bad tearing and dont want to play the game with this any help would be most grateful.

v-sync only helps tearing if the game is rendering FASTER than the monitor is displaying.

since i very much doubt that Crysis is running at more than 60fps on your machine, v-sync won't help and the tearing you're getting is rendering-related, not monitor related.

V-SYNC WILL ONLY HELP IF YOUR FRAMERATE IS HIGHER THAN THE REFRESH RATE OF YOUR MONITOR.

sorry about the caps, but i was mentally shouting.

You can enable vsync I did it last night...

You must create this new file (a normal text document) and rename it to...

System.cfg

add the line:

r_VSync=1

From tweakguides...

This file doesn't exist by default, so you need to create it by going to your \Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis directory, right-clicking on an empty spot and selecting 'New>Text Document'. Then rename this .txt file to System.cfg (not System.cfg.txt). By default Crysis looks for the presence of this file each time it starts, and if the file exists and contains valid commands, they will be automatically executed when the game loads up. As such, this file is the perfect place to store most of the commands you wish to apply to Crysis at startup.

The format for entering a command in a config file is different to that of commands used in the console. If you want to disable motion blur for example, the console command is r_motionblur 0, but when entered in the config file, it needs to be r_motionblur=0, and every command needs to be on a separate line.

Hope it helps, I didnt do it from console rather the cfg so it loads with it!:eek::)

He is right though, VSynch makes the game run at no faster than 60FPS and in synch with the monitor.

If you are getting less than 60 FPS I don't see how it can work unless it can do it at say 15FPS or 30FPS and double it up to give a similar result but more than likely you are getting tearing because it is simply running at such a low FPS.

negative (in arnie voice:p)

maybe the logics are right, but tearing is tearing and lagging/struttering is lagging/stuttering due to fps :cool:

I get tearing quite badly and I dont even go above 60fps wish I did!! (in crysis)
