Hi Guys,

Just saw that Crysis Warhead can be had for as low as £14 on a well known gaming retailer. I can also get it on stream but apparently the benchmark doesn't work or something.

Am i missing something? I paid almost £40 for COD4!

See, I keep hearing this banded around. At least the original would run for me, warhead runs like a slideshow :(

Make sure if your using Vista to run it in DX9 mode. I tried it in DX10 and it ran very badly. Runs pretty decent for me on "Gamer" now in DX9 on Vista x64.

I got mine for £14 from the purples on their price match. I had and am still having a lot of fun with the game.

How do I force DX9 rendering? (I have it through steam if it makes any difference)

I'm not sure how or if it can be done in Steam; with the on disc game you just right click and hit "Play DX9". Is it possible to do this with Steam itself (ie when you load Steam, rather than inside Steam)?

Right click Crysis Warhead on your Steam games list. Then click 'set launch options';

Differences in performance between DX9 and DX10, graphics settings identical, downsized from 1680x1050:

A difference of 10 frames per second. That's a 50% performance boost right there.

Knives - i'm tempted to get it via stream as i won't have to wait for postage costs - although i want to be able to run the benchmark. Any idea how to do this through stream?

What benchmark? First I've heard of it. There's nothing to separate the retail and steam versions of Warhead except for it being in a different folder in Program Files, the directories and structures are all the same.

edit: could it be this one? Says it has Steam support but apparently not 100% yet.

This one. Hopefully they will make it stream compatible. Can you remind me how much it was on stream? I'm on my work comp atm.
