I upgraded from a Leadtek 8800gts to a BFG OC2 8800GT, and now playing crysis the performance feels slower! the hard drive is being accessed more and it is very jerky.
I'm running the same settings as before (1440 x 900, high)! I run 169.09 drivers.....
hmm very annoying, im sure it should be quicker!

the rig is
6000+ x2
2gb OCZ 5300
8800GT OC2

Windows XPsp2.

Random and annoying!
what might it be?!?

Did you manage to sell the GTS for more than the value of the GT, out of interest? :)

It should be running better on that rig I'd have thought. Did you properly uninstall the old drivers and reinstall newer ones?

I found the 169.09 drivers didn't really do much over the WHQLs on my GTS...

if the hdd is being accessed more you maybe out of space in your ram, which will in turn use virtual memory. Virtual memory a section on the hdd set up by your OS which loads vital game files ect to it! that will cause stutter and a jerky feel and will also explain the high hdd activity.
are u using vista?

im serious, thats what this game runs like and it gets progressively worse as you go through
Runs fine on all high in 1680x1050 for me without AA, something wrong with your rig.

Running Windows XP Professional x64 with Service Pack 2, then again I'm using a quad.

strange indeed.
I have now rolled back to the latest whqls and it seems better!
I did manage to get the same for my GTS as i paid for my GT.
I'll have to do more digging! and for people thinking of doing the upgrade, the GT is much louder when its working hard!!!!

are U running 2 HD's in raid example my set up from HD tach

Burst speed is 355.3 MB/s
Randon access; 14.5ms
CPU utilization; 4% +/- 2%
Average Read: 112.9 MB/s

I have upload to hdtach these results so U can do your own camparisons

In some situations the game can become jerky for me (I have a similar computer to you). It only becomes jerky for me when there is A LOT going on. I mean, loads of people firing at you, smoke everywhere, loads of soldiers running around etc. So try loading up the first level for example and see if its still jerky.

You aren't going to notice THAT much difference between the GTS and GT.

The 640Mb is probably why Crysis was smoother.
At 1920x1200 (No AA) Crysis uses over 600Mbs in the later levels (from Paradise Lost) and this rises to 713Mb in the Carrier level.

512Mb isn't enough for this game at higher resolutions + High settings.

the game runs perfectly fine for the entire first section (jungle, etc) just starts to run a bit crap in the alien ship and in the frozen areas, also the aircraft carrier gets horrible performance, its a good game though, i think people need to understand just how big a game this was for crytek to pull off, im sure it'll get better as they patch it and hopefully DX10 might actually have a purpose sometime in the near future barring being slower than DX9, never run this game in DX10

Apart from the fact the op is running 1440x900?!

Crisis has massive memory leaks, both in terms of graphics and regular paging. Going for more than 2Gb of physical ram helped in my case more than playing around with graphics.

Have to agree, I noticed stability increase with 4GB. :)

Hopefuly patching will solve some of the issues with the game.
