Hi All,

i want to get a new system this year but I want to upgrade at the right time. for instance not before a major new release like directx 10.1 etc. apart for this can anyone see anything on the horizon that is worth waiting for...instead of regreting it a month after I upgrade.

Thx for your help

Paul

45nm Intels are coming out soon. But I think these will fit in current range 775 motherboards anyway.

Other than that, no, not really.

Tbh just take the plunge. You could wait around forever thinking like that! :P

^ 45nm quads, the 45nm dual cores are already out (wolfdale)

9 series is due out, but the 9600 range is out first, so it's gna be quite a wait before the top end cards, and they aren't forecast to be that earth shattering from what I've read.

yer you could wait forever, but if new stuff comes out generally the older stuff falls in price. so its good to know when things are coming out to best judge buying. dates would be handy if anyone knows more.

Nvidia 9####, ATI 3870X2, Intel V8 (skulltrail), AMD quad core/octocore, rddr3 (for intel V8 board), intel C2D extreme range of processors for the LGA771 slot, USB 3, Wimax ..l. the list is endless!

just buy and have fun :)

IMO, apart from price I don't see any regrets if you build with what's currently top/out. Just don't go 'crazy' on the components, i.e. buy/build conservatively, e.g. 512MB GTS instead of GTX, etc ;)

You will never build a PC that you dont regret wating for 2 months later. thats just how things are. My advice, get a decent mobo that will support the new GPUs (PCIe 2.0) and the new CPUs (1333Mhz FSB etc) and then buy whatever you can afford now. In 2 months time youll only want to wait for what is comming out in 4 months, and then so on, and you will never get a machine built.
