I have installed the CS 1.5 client on 20 of our classroom PC's using the same, but genuine CD key and built a HL Server 1.1.1.0. I have turned off internet on all pcs, but get problems after the first 5 connections to the LAN server saying that the CD-Key is already in use.

Now i am positive i have done this before using a single client CD key, without any problems, can anyone confirm or correct me?

We were looking at a cheap way of starting a low spec lan gaming club and CS was top of the list. :(

Hmmm... just got a friend to bring in his copy and we got another 5 PC's working with his. You seem to be able to run 5 pcs to a cd key. Don't rememeber it being like that before, but its not the end of the world.

tbh, you can get your school in a lot of trouble for doing this, it isn't a normal private lan party, its a school, they can have check ups at any time for illegal software at their school, and if they find 20 cs's with 1 cd key, your school could face a massive fine, which they might give to you for doing it in the first place!

Stupid laws :p

I thought this was actually ok on a LAN. I will pull the plug if this is not the case. I am not trying to work round the licensing, i actually thought that CS was playable on a LAN legally with only one cd.
Thinking about it,;....it does seem a little niave of me. :o

you may be right about the fact its on lan, but i doubt it, seen as your school will fork out around £40,000 yes 40k a year for Microsoft office!!! and that isn't lan or online :p

Just install Urban Terror 4.0 with the open source version of quake. All free and no cd-key issues.

Whilst it's not exactly CS/CSS, it's reasonably close and (imo) more fun anyhow.
