CS:GO Beta Starting Today

The reg is extremely easy. I can go full auto on 30 rounds of the AK and get 3 headshots, cs was like darts and css is like pinball - you are going to hit something. The lag is something else, have net_graph 3 on

No....

If you care to join my ventrillo and demonstrate this talent of yours I'd love to see it. Rando sprayed an AK and got multi kills once every so often perhaps. Saying its easy to full spray a clip and get 3 AK headshots GTFO.

CS 1.5/1.6 was the pinnacle of CS gaming. Where you actually got respect if you had a good K/D Ratio because it took SKILL to get there. Unlike many of todays games (COD, looking at you) where it's all about the camping and getting the best guns/buffs/killstreaks.

Play on cod4 promodlive servers. There are FPS games that are competitive, you just have to look harder these days.

The problem is no modern game is as competitive "out of the box" like CS/CSS is.

COD2 was still the best of the series on PC imo.

I'm not denying that there aren't competitive games out there. All i'm saying is that CS is the daddy of them all. It done so well because it was fun and exciting to play while (mostly) being fair to all players rewarding skill with individual kills and wins with good teamwork. People are frustrated, I think, at how it seems to be so hard to just have a nice simple game like 1.5 with modern graphics.

They do not need to add in anything. The maps have been evolved over time and the crap ones weeded out. The guns are simple but offer a little variety and the game modes are again. Simple.

I still think they did a better job with CSS than they did with DoD:S. Original Day of Defeat was amazing and it's own game, the source version just turned it into a mediocre ww2 shooter.

This!

I tried so hard to like DoD:S, but they just seemed to have totally given up on it. Reduction in the classes etc, no British on Jagd! WTF! haha

So I just go back to playing the original :) all they needed to do was give it a graphical update and not take away any of the weapons etc.

Anyway on topic, I'm still unsure about this. I'll have to wait to play it for myself. Totally gone off source after the Orange Box update, so hopefully this iteration will be able to redeem itself.

Are there any major games around at the moment (community mods not included) that follow the CS '1 round, 1 life' game play style?

So... 1. Lol

See, CS:GO will be a welcome refreshing change of style from what has become the norm, regardless of weather its a perfect 1.6 remake or not.
