CS:GO Discussion

Just had my first game on Faceit, really good fun. Do people generally use the Overwolf app or not? Is it worth me installing?

What gfx settings to people play on? Obviously csgo is not remotely demanding but I just put everything on low, however it annoys me that this makes skins look arse.

Just got an Awp corticera and it just looks crappy. Wish you could have the gun skins whacked up but environment set low.

These are my settings, I get a stable ~200fps with ease (i5 3570k, 8GB 1600MHz DDR3, HD7870).

Skins look they way they should, shadows are very detailed and view-able from the max distance the game allows.

I'm trying to study the game the best I can. I have been watching the grand final of Dreamhack and I noticed that every player uses a static crosshair. What is the advantage and (if any) disadvantages to this?

Also, why are people lowering their settings? I have a GTX680 and have everything on as high as it can go and get over 150fps, constantly.

Also noticed in my first Faceit match a weird kind of lag I have not encountered before, kind of a short, stuttered, rubber band effect. Usually just before or during an encounter.
Anyone know anything about that Faceit app? I was about to install it last night, though after downloading it, the overly thankful, "You rock!" message made me highly suspicious.
Is it just going to bog my system down for no benefits? lol @my old school not wanting any unnecessary apps running mentality, surely modern systems do not faint under such minor pressure. The first thing I thought when I got the lag on Faceit was a conflicting program I may have had left open. As I say surely these multiform pc's are less susceptible. :)

Simply, is lag normal on Faceit and do I need the overwolf app? :D

Ive heard people have FPS lag on faceit servers for some reason but mine was fine for my first faceit game last night.
Overworf is just a overlay app. Its useful if your on TS as it can show who is currently talking in an overlay and has other useful things but you dont need it.

Having everything on low gets rid of all the crap and clutter, just makes it clearer.

I'd just type "connect xxxxxxx" in the console, xxx being the IP it gives you when the game starts. No idea what the overwolf thing does, but if it's like teamspeak one then its bloat.

thanks for the game last night robbo. luckily we got matched up with decent players in the 2nd game

Yeah it was a good games.

What makes CSGO quite 'emotional' is the way teams gain momentum and can win 5-8 on the trot. The first game, we were about 5-0 down (can't remember now) and we already had a random with us type GG in the chat. I don't want to hear him giving up already, it's still winnable.

The second game we were about 8-1 up and sitting comfortably. Then we overextend, they get a couple of rounds, then it gets squeaky bum time.

All good fun!

Cheers. I forgot to mention I did like the noticeable smoothness of 128 tick. Hopefully the lag spikes will iron themselves out, they seemed to appear less later into the game.

Low/medium except the skins.

Use connect xxx rather than the PLAY Button.Don't bother with overwolf.

I believe connecting to the faceit server rather than using the play button on the faceit Web page helps the fps drops, I only got one or two, but since connecting from inside cs I haven't had any. No idea what causes it though.
