Got my ranking tonight it's taken me ages to finish the 10 games due to Dota and playing casual with a couple of mates.

Rated at Master Guardian 2, wee bit disappointing considering everyone on my friends list from the old days is a much higher rank :(
 
Can soon level up though mate, just keep playing and winning.

Also to note though that if you don't play for long periods then you will also lose ranks as well which is especially annoying for people who don't play that often. After a game or two you will get a rank back though
 
MG2 is a pretty decent 1st rank. If you don't play regularly/ are consistently good, you'll struggle to keep that rank. On the other hand, if you play well, you can climb a few ranks. What ranks are your friends? I'd be very surprised if they were a 'much higher' rank. Also, it doesn't really matter at all.

I guess you'r right, i've been out of the game for years and completely ignored CS Source as it was a terrible game. My old 1.6 friends are all at the top 3 levels of the game but they appear to play this daily.
 
MG2 is a great rank to me. Seems to be the average for this thread so ideal for making a lobby and inviting from the group I guess

To improve aim I play pistol deathmatch. You will get slaughtered if your bad but since it gives another chance every 5 seconds so it is the quickest way to learn.
Pistol forces good aim where as other guns allow sloppy play and give a false positive imo
I also like arms race, its quick games with drops if nothing else :D

I watched the round on Inferno. The commentator said why make a fuss over knife round when it doesnt matter which side the team starts on :confused: completely wrong, fnatic got CT first and won the game, its biased to CT no coincidence

Seriously confused about the ranking system on this game now....

Went up to Badge/ DMG. Won 2, lost 1, Won 2, tied 2, lost 1.....de-ranked back down to MG3.....wtf??? Should mention I was top 3 in all games apart from the last one... :mad:

Would have needed to see the ranks of the opposition you lost/drew with. Maybe they had a few players that were 1 or 2 rankings below your rating.
 
I made a serious mistake when starting out this games, i instantly played competitive, and screwed myself over big time, got placed in silver 4.

I'm really enjoying this game and would definetly like to improve my rank and become better, been watching a lot of pro games and a guy called adren on youtube, also practicing aim in DM is very nice.

How hard would it be for me to rank up to gold from silver 4? (going to improve before i try this)

Any tips would be welcomed.

Easy with other players from here/you know. But the issue with silver players is they are so random. They will buy whatever and whenever they want. They will rush as CTs etc etc so its hard to string a few games together when the rest of your team might be horrendous.
I went from Silver 3 up to MG1, back down to Gold nova 3 at the moment thanks to a few matches with muppets.

I know what im supposed to do etc, so like you said, it can be random, so it would be best to play as 5? I wouldn't want to feel like i've been carried though.
