CPU: 2700X at 4.3ghz GPU: Vega 64 RAM: 16GB 3200MHZ MOBO: X470 Why am I getting sub 200 FPS on 1280x1024 while every setting except shadows are off or on low?

I bought the PC from overclockers, so I'd guess everything should be fine..

Dunno. What's with that 5:4 resolution though, are you playing from the late 90s/early 00s or something? And why have the settings on low if your PC is capable of running them on high with ease? Seems damn strange to me.

Old game engine that prefers a single fast CPU thread to many slower cores perhaps?

Try increasing graphics settings. If your FPS stays the same it could indicate a CPU bottleneck.

Try adding the threads option to your launch options and these as well

-novid -tickrate 128 -high -threads 6 +fps_max 0 +cl_interp 0 +cl_interp_ratio 1 +rate 128000 +cl_updaterate 128 +cl_cmdrate 128 +mat_queue_mode 2 -freq 144 -refresh 144 -nod3d9ex -nojoy

(obviously change whatever your refresh rate on your monitor is for freq and refresh and the same on threads to whatever your CPU max is).

Low settings high fps is a competitive edge in any game, so someone wanting this edge in a CS game is easily understandable.

I’m not sure if this is still a thing but having that sort of aspect ratio used to alter enemy hit boxes making them a few % easier to hit, again an advantage!

You should basically be locked at like 300 fps @ 4k with all the settings maxed, at least this should be the case in 5x5 comp games with that setup, dangerzone its around 200 fps once landed. I play a lot of csgo with my old buddies and with a similar setup (1950x & vega 56) and am generally locked at around 300 frames, just upgraded to radeon 7 and still locked at 300 frames as the engine is CPU bound. I'd suggest that your overclock is actually causing performance degradation, have you tried it all @ stock clocks?

Check radeon chill and frame rate targets in the amd driver also. You don't want them on.
