Hi guys,

Recently started playing a little CS:S again and knew you could moify your config file to add binds, raise fps cap etc, but I hear talk about an autoexec cfg file too...

So my question is what's the difference between the two, do you need both or just one and what do you lot use? :)

Cheers.

The autoexec executes everytime you enter the game, and isn't modified by any changes you do ingame unlike the config file. Autoexec is normally used for fps configs etc.

you can name a cfg anything it really doesnt matter, its just a name.

call it prozorbbqkk.cfg

aslong as you have the line "exec prozorbbqkk.cfg" in your config.cfg

ThatJoe explained it perfectly. The only commands you need in autoexec are commands that have values you want to preserve. For example in CS 1.6 my autoexec contained commands relating to the brightness as my brightness would reset to default every time I closed the game.

bigbadish just so you know, your sig is too tall. The max allowed by forum rules is 400x75
